"In the end, we
will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we
understand; we will understand only what we are taught."
Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary
Located in
Sarona, THE HUNT HILL AUDUBON SANCTUARY is an
environmental
learning community with over 450 acres of wooded glacial hills,
mature maples, groves of ancient white pines, meadows of grasses and
wildflowers and black spruce and tamarack bogs. All this and 2 glacial
lakes provide a home for a wide
variety of other plants
and animals.
We have a
barn dining hall for programs such as Cakes at the Lake, Grill
at the Hill,
Dinner and a Movie and for all of our residential camps.
A program learning center, as well as our library, offer a great
location to learn more about the
flora and fauna of
the area! Our 3 dorm buildings can house around 90 people and the 2
cabins on the 'hill' are a great get-away for families or friends. Our
beach is a nice place to launch canoes or splash around with friends at
camp (lifeguard MUST be present to be in the water).
Phone
(715) 635-6543 for schedules, programs and registration information,
or check their web site for their complete Calendar of Events. Programs
include day camps for youth,
Swedish and Spanish Immersion camps for
adults, and a wide variety of nature programs for all ages.
